Miss Iowa 2016: Kelly Koch

Kelly Koch is a junior at Iowa State University majoring in Child, Adult, and Family Services to become a Child Life Specialist. She was crowned Miss Iowa 2016, and will go on to compete for Miss America in September. Kelly became involved with Pinky Swear in 2015, serving as a member of the Community Advisory Council in the Des Moines area. During her time with Pinky Swear Kelly has assisted in the Iowa WHO Radio radiothon, raised money for the Foundation, collected donations for families at Blank Children’s Hospital where she is a volunteer, and visited local schools to speak about Pinky Swear and share Mitch’s story. Kelly also participated in the Pinky Swear Gala where she presented a $1,500 check to the Chepokas family.

While Miss Iowa, Kelly will be promoting Pinky Swear as her platform and taking it to the national stage at Miss America. Kelly’s goal as National Ambassador, future Child Life Specialist, and during her year of service as Miss Iowa, is to grow awareness, provide emotional support for children and families, and help raise dollars to lift the financial burdens families carry when their child has cancer.
