At Pinky Swear Foundation, we are lucky to have a community of supporters dedicated to helping kids with cancer and their families with financial and emotional support. Key to this community is our Board of Directors, a group of individuals who invest their time, expertise, and strengths in working towards the vision of saying ‘yes!’ to every family.

Since joining the board in 2026, Debra Frimerman has been an invaluable asset to our Board of Directors. As Chief Legal Officer at Pivot Bio, Debra leads legal and compliance, advising on enterprise risk, strategic growth, and corporate governance. Debra brings her expertise in the legal sector along with her enthusiasm for the mission of Pinky Swear Foundation.

What drew you to Board service at Pinky Swear Foundation?

The mission and Mitch. A child facing cancer who looked around and thought about how he could help other kids. When his father made a pinky promise to keep that spirit alive, something extraordinary was born. I want to be part of honoring that promise.

There are a lot of organizations that provide cancer support. What about Pinky Swear's mission stands out to you?

At its heart, this is a story about kids helping kids — and a parent keeping a promise. Pinky Swear was built because a child wanted to help other children. It shapes everything about how this organization shows up for families.

What do each of the Pinky Swear values — Compassion, Collaboration, Celebration — mean to you?

  • Compassion: treating people the way they want to be treated with honesty, integrity, and genuine care for what they're going through.

  • Collaboration: recognizing that we are better together.

  • Celebration: celebrating our wins, our stumbles, and each other.

Is there a particular accomplishment during your tenure on the Board of Directors that you're proud of, or hoping to accomplish?

What excites me most right now is the work we're doing to reach more families and expand our impact. I want to help us say yes to every family.

What talents do you bring to the Pinky Swear Foundation Board of Directors?

Compassion, grit, a willingness to take calculated risks, and a few corny jokes. I also bring a legal and business development background that I can draw on as we think about how to grow the organization.

What have you learned, or are hoping to learn, during your time on the Pinky Swear Board of Directors?

As a new board member, I'm looking forward to learning from the staff, the families, the founders, and my fellow board members about how we can make the biggest impact.

What are your hopes for Pinky Swear Foundation in the childhood cancer space?

My hope is that every family facing childhood cancer knows they are not alone, and that Pinky Swear continues to grow so we can be there for more families when they need us most.

If there is one thing you want people to know about Pinky Swear Foundation, what would it be?

The world is a brighter place because Mitch made a promise, and because Mitch’s family and the people around this organization have worked hard to keep it.
