Bloomington, MN (September 6, 2018) – In celebration of National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, Pinky Swear Foundation will host its first “Super Duper Match Day” on Thursday, September 13 via its Facebook fan page and other social media platforms. This online event will aim to raise crucial awareness and funds to support the mission of helping kids with cancer and their families around the country. Thanks to a generous gift from Northwestern Mutual Foundation, all peer fundraising donations will be matched dollar-for-dollar, up to $50,000.

“Our team is really looking forward to hosting this fun and engaging digital event,” says Erica Campbell, executive director of Pinky Swear Foundation. “We are always looking to find new ways to use technology and social media to reach new supporters and I think this effort will really help connect people with our mission and what we are doing here at Pinky Swear to help families with kids battling cancer.”
Along with utilizing the Facebook fan page to encourage donations and supporters to create their own fundraisers on behalf of Pinky Swear Foundation, the organization will also utilize their official Twitter and Instagram platforms to connect with current and potential supporters around the country.
The $50,000 in matching funds gifted by the Northwestern Mutual Foundation were allocated via a recently retired employee, Tim Bohannon. After working at Northwestern Mutual for over 36 years, most recently serving as a vice president and managing partner, Bohannon received the company’s Dennis Tamcsin [Hall of Fame] Award in 2017. This honor includes $100,000 charity contribution to impact the community and to be donated to the recipient’s nonprofit of choice. “When we found out about this incredible honor and the $100,000 charity contribution, it was no question – Pinky Swear was the first organization that came to mind,” said Joey Bohannon, wife of Tim Bohannon. Bohannon also served as a former board member on the Pinky Swear Foundation board of directors.
“We are so thankful for amazing and generous supports like Northwestern Mutual Foundation and our good friend, Tim Bohannon,” continues Campbell. “With every dollar donated from peer fundraising on our Super Duper Match Day being doubled, the impact that we can have on families all over the country could be great. I look forward to connecting more people to our incredible mission.”
