Des Moines, IA (February 27, 2019) – Pinky Swear Foundation is thrilled to announce that listeners of the central Iowa radio station, NEWSRADIO 1040 WHO, raised more than $173,000 during the 4thannual radiothon event on Friday, December 14, 2018. The day-long event took place at the Valley West Mall with goals to spread awareness and raise crucial funds to support the mission of helping kids with cancer and their families throughout Iowa and across the country.
The fundraising goal for the 4thAnnual WHO Pinky Swear Radiothon was $100,000.
“We are so grateful for the incredible community support Pinky Swear Foundation receives in central Iowa,” says Pinky Swear Foundation Iowa area director, Mary Mendenhall-Core. “This is such an energetic and fun day and I love being able to connect with our brave All-Stars, our wonderful partners and all of our community supporters for this event. WHO listeners really blew our goal out of the water and we are so thankful.”
Along with a variety of opportunities to make donations to support the Pinky Swear Foundation, the 2018 event included a special VIP All-Star area to recognize the brave kids battling cancer and their families, WHO talent and other special guest appearances, entertainment throughout the day and more.
“We are absolutely humbled by the huge response from our listeners in support of Iowa families,” says WHO program director, Mike Dorwart. “Our listeners have proven once again that Iowans can make a big difference when their neighbors are in need!”
The 2018 WHO Pinky Swear Radiothon event was supported by NEWSRADIO 1040 WHO, Principal, Principal Charity Classic, Home Services Lending and many more local Iowa businesses.
