World Cancer Day: standing together in the cancer community

Written by Pinky Swear Foundation | Feb 4, 2026 11:15:00 AM
Today is World Cancer Day, an opportunity to reflect on how cancer touches nearly every life and to honor the strength of the cancer community. In 2025, more than 2,00,000 people were expected to be diagnosed in the U.S. across all ages.

Many of those diagnosed are your friends, your coworkers, and your neighbors. Cancer does not exist in isolation. It inspires people from all walks of life to connect and to work together for better care, research, and support.

For families facing childhood cancer, the reality is that parents often have to stop working to care for their sick child. Because of this, everyday needs like housing, gas, and groceries can become overwhelming. That is where Pinky Swear steps in. By supporting these families, we ease their stress so they can focus on healing and time together.

If this resonates with you, join the Pinky Swear community or make a donation to help provide relief for families facing childhood cancer.

Looking for a little hope beyond organizations making a difference? For the first time ever, the five-year survival rate for all cancers in the U.S. has reached about 70 percent, reflecting decades of progress in early detection and treatment. This is something we can all celebrate together!
