It Only Takes Two Seconds for a Family’s Life to be Turned Upside Down…

PINKY SWEAR FOUNDATION FUNDRAISERS GIVE BACK TO FAMILIES FACING A CHILDHOOD CANCER DIAGNOSISEDINA, MINN – [March 2, 2022] – Haakyn was five years old when he was diagnosed with stage three Wilms Tumor. The tumor, found attached to Haakyn’s kidney, was the size of a volleyball. Haakyn went through 28 weeks of chemotherapy. This young boy’s life, along with his family’s, was turned upside down in a matter of minutes.

Pinky Swear Foundation’s ‘It Takes Two’ campaign shows how even the smallest donation can make a deep impact on a struggling family. It only takes two pinkies to make a Pinky Swear promise. It only takes two seconds for a family’s life to turn upside down from a childhood cancer diagnosis. And it only takes $2 to make a difference.

.“The absolute best thing about Pinky Swear, and why we love it above all other non-profits, is that they were there right away,” said Haakyn’s mother, Tory. “The support was immediate – Pinky Swear was almost stealth-like; there was no waiting until our child’s journey was near the end or over.”

Pinky Swear Foundation is on track to raise $75,000 for kids with cancer through this campaign. Fundraisers jumpstarted ‘It Takes Two’ by raising $22k in the first 22 days of February. This hard-earned money will be sent to families in the form of grocery or gas gift cards, auto payments, or funds for rent or a mortgage payment.“A childhood cancer diagnosis can change a family’s life in the blink of an eye,” said Chloe Czaplewski, Pinky Swear community fundraising manager. “By harnessing the power of community, small donations of $2 or more will have a macro impact for these families, and they will know they are not alone.”

Pinky Swear is dedicated to serving families in a variety of ways. In addition to financial support, Pinky Swear Foundation provides families facing a childhood cancer diagnosis with emotional support – walking beside them, hand in hand. ‘It Takes Two’ will fill in the gaps these families are missing financially with monetary compensation and emotionally with virtual hugs from communities near and far.“My husband and I have had many moments contemplating the impact of an organization that just shows up without effort on our part,” Tory said. “It’s very bittersweet, and it touches you right to the core.”
