by Pinky Swear Foundation on Jun 3, 2026 10:38:56 AM
At Pinky Swear Foundation, we are lucky to have a community of supporters dedicated to helping kids with cancer and their families with financial and emotional support. Key to this community is our Board of Directors, a group of individuals who invest their time, expertise, and strengths in working towards the vision of saying ‘yes!’ to every family. In this series, we’ll be introducing members from the Board of Directors and giving you a glimpse into their story.
Since joining the board in 2026, Mike Hirschberg has been a invaluable asset to the our Board of Directors. Mike provides investment banking services. By being able to share his expertise of banking, investments, and business, Mike is able to support the mission of Pinky Swear.
What drew you to Board service at Pinky Swear Foundation?
I was inspired by Pinky Swear Foundation's mission and the empathy and impact it was making for families going through the unimaginable. I previously participated in a Cancer is Messy campaign and felt I could provide more.
There are a lot of organizations that provide cancer support. What about Pinky Swear’s mission stands out to you?
It helps families trying to manage through cancer treatment. It assists through a different lens than many cancer-focused charities and provides critical assistance so that families can focus on what truly matters.
What do each of the Pinky Swear values (Compassion, Collaboration, Celebration) mean to you?
Compassion – the manner and way you interact with other people, particularly those who are going through a trying time
Collaboration – collectively working to better or improve circumstances
Celebration – cheering on and recognizing accomplishments
Is there a particular accomplishment during your tenure on the Board of Directors that you’re proud of/hoping to accomplish?
I would like us to be able to support all families who have a child going through cancer treatment so that they can focus on their child and family instead of all the other societal burdens.
What talents do you bring to the Pinky Swear Foundation Board of Directors?
I have many years of work with non-profit boards and have a strong background in finance. I’m hoping to assist the organization in expanding its impact and influence by providing strategic and financial guidance.
What have you learned/are you hoping to learn during your time on the Pinky Swear Board of Directors?
The staff and board are made up of incredibly talented individuals who are deeply passionate about fulfilling Pinky Swear's mission and impact. There are many smart and creative people who will drive this organization’s ability to reach more families and provide deeper assistance.
What are your hopes for Pinky Swear Foundation in the childhood cancer space?
I would like Pinky Swear to become a household name synonymous with providing financial support to families, so they can focus on caring for their children and spending time together as a family.
If there is one thing you want people to know about Pinky Swear Foundation, what would it be?
Impact doesn’t have to be thought of in large sums of money. Even smaller financial benefits help families relieve the stress and burden of having to provide while attempting to spend time and help their child, who is going through cancer, get better.
