SEVEN YEAR RUN OF THE WHO PINKY SWEAR RADIOTHON BREAKS MILLION DOLLAR MARK FOR FAMILIES IN NEED
EDINA, MINN – [December 17, 2021] – ecember 10, the 2021 WHO Pinky Swear Radiothon, presented by Dean Snyder Construction, raised more than $282,000 for kids with cancer and their families. The NEWS RADIO 1040 WHO day-long event spread awareness and raised crucial funds to support the mission of helping kids with cancer and their families throughout Iowa and across the country. The monetary goal was $250,000.
The first WHO Pinky Swear Radiothon, hitting airwaves in 2014, raised $16,000. Just six years later, the generosity of radio listeners has exponentially grown to create an even bigger impact. With this year’s donations, the total raised throughout the last seven years of this event has now exceeded $1 million for kids with cancer and their families.
Along with a variety of opportunities to make donations to support the Pinky Swear Foundation, the 2021 event included interviews with All-Stars to recognize these brave kids battling cancer and their families, WHO talent and other special guest appearances.
“Each year we’re even more impressed at the generosity donors have for the families we serve,” says Erica Campbell, executive director for Pinky Swear Foundation. “The funds raised are an undeniable reminder of the love and support for the families facing a childhood cancer diagnosis feel this holiday season.”
